DCN Control Units
The Philips DCN system utilizes control units top provide power and control to DCN microphones, interpreters units and transmission units. There are three control units available with different characteristics, an auxiliary power supply to provide power to additional units to be used in conjunction with a control unit and an Audio Media Interface for analog output for recording or press feeds of the multichannel outputs from the system.
The basic unit is the LBB 3500/05 it provides control for up to 240 microphone units and supplies power for up to 90 units. It is used for standalone operation only and does not have facilities for a computer interface. It allows microphones to be operated in voice activated and manual modes. There are controls for loudspeaker volume and tone control and also for operation of an automated equalization system to optimize the integrated loudspeakers.
The LBB 3500/15 provides all the features of the basic unit but ads the ability to have computer control via RS-232 serial connections. It also features a larger power supply handling up to 180 microphone units.
The LBB 3500/35 provides all the features of the LBB 3500/15 but is used when more than 240 microphone units are required. When used with a PC running LBB 3586/00 Multi CCU Software and equipped with the LBB 3511/00 Multi CCU PC Card it allows multiple LBB 3500/35 CCUs to be connected together up to a total of 16 allowing up to 3840 microphone units to be supported.
The LBB 3506/00 Extension Power Supply provides power for up to 180 microphone units and must work in conjunction with a control units. It provides 3 short protected DCN trunk outputs.
The LBB 3508/00 Audio Media Interface has an integrated power supply for up to 90 microphone units and features 3 short protected DCN trunk outputs. It provides analog audio output for 4 selectable channels of output from the DCN system.
The LBB 3510/00 Network PC Card is an ISA card interface for a personal computer which allows multichannel monitoring and intercom facility for the operator in a computer controlled DCN system when used with DCN software.
